The Community Advisory Board of the Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation, a member of the Beth Abraham Family of Health Services, honored community leaders at the recently held Excel Awards Ceremony and Reception. This year’s honorees included Lifetime Achievement Awardee, Clari Gilbert, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Beth Abraham Family of Health Services.

Beth Abraham Health Services (BAHS) recently held a free informational session on the H1N1 Virus at 612 Allerton Avenue in the Bronx. A panel of experts consisting of Dr. Sandra Selikson, Vice President of Medical Services, BAHS; Dr. Jonathan Gold, Vice President for Medical Affairs, Comprehensive Care Management (CCM), a member of the Beth Abraham Family of Health Services; and Eileen Butler, RN, Assistant Director of Education, CCM, spoke to attendees about flu prevention and gave tips on what to do if you contract the flu virus. They also separated the myths from the facts about H1N1 (swine flu).

Beth Abraham Family of Health Services (BAFHS) recently held its 2nd Annual Network Softball Tournament. Teams comprising of BAFHS’ programs across the New York metropolitan area, including its skilled nursing facilities Beth Abraham Health Services, Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation, Margaret Tietz Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and Schnurmacher Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing; Adult Day Health Care Programs; Long Term Home Health Care Programs and Comprehensive Care Management participated in a day of sportsmanship, team-building and camaraderie. Special thanks to Chris Amarosa, Van Nest Little League President, for the tournament venue.

May 21, 2008 | Octogenarian Martha Flowers Shakes Things Up at Concert for Groundbreaking New Music Therapy Program

89-year old Martha Flowers, a resident of Schnurmacher Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing in White Plains, joined Music Therapist Marlon Sobol, Jazz great David Amram, bass guitarist Alan Katz and Grammy-nominated percussionist Bobby Sanabria for a rousing jam celebrating the inauguration of the groundbreaking music therapy collaboration between Schnurmacher and its affiliate, the internationally renowned Institute for Music and Neurologic function.
